Rev. Teresa Howell-Smith
Senior Pastor

Email Pastor Teresa

Pastor Teresa brings extensive experience in mission, Christian education, worship leadership and preaching to our congregation. She earned a Master of Divinity degree at Yale University Divinity School in New Haven, CT, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Spelman College.

Pastor Teresa has played important roles in numerous Milwaukee social service agencies and has led several United Church of Christ congregations.

She was the site outreach director for Interfaith Older Adult Programs for many years, and also served as the director of the largest supportive housing program within Milwaukee County, at Guest House of Milwaukee. Pastor Teresa has served, supported, and advocated on behalf of disabled and older adults as well as people experiencing homelessness, AODA and mental health issues.

Her ministry has been shaped by her combined work experience, her history growing up in the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, and her volunteer work with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

Pastor Teresa’s work and education have brought her all across the country. She is a native of Atlanta, GA, and served in Interim Associate positions at Newman Congregational in Rumford, RI, and as a chaplain at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven, CT. She was ordained by the UCC in 2007.

Pastor Teresa is mother to two school-aged children, Mackenzie Rose and Michaeldavid, and a rescue dog named Daisy.
